Representatives from Forsyth Technical Community College typically come to South Stokes several times duirng the school year to administer the Community College Placement Test (CPT) to seniors planning to apply to community colleges and students planning to take dual enrollment courses. Basic reading skills, sentence skills, arithmetic, and elementary algebra are tested to determine students’ preparedness for college-level courses.
While this test does not determine if students are admitted into the community college, students who do poorly may not be eligible for admissions into some competitive programs. These tests also determine if students must take remedial math and English classes at the community college. Since these remedial courses typically cost over $200 each, it is to your advantage to score high on the placement test.
Students who do not pass the placement test during the first administration will be offered assistance in studying for the re-test during SmartBreakfast. To begin preparing for the test, please follow the directions below to practice online or see your counselor for paper study guides.
